Language Program Support Manager

Metro Professional Services has an existing contract at the Air Force Language & Culture Center at Maxwell AFB, AL. The Academic Centers accomplish their missions through several functional areas to include Language Program and Participant Support. We're looking to fill a full-time Language Program Support Manager position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We will assist with developing language capability throughout the force to meet Air Force requirements by maintaining awareness of Air Force language education and training requirements for which the Air Force is responsible. Provide program records management, course oversight, and customer service to Airmen participating in programs such as the Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP).

Assist with the preparation and execution of semi-annual LEAP Review Boards to select qualified participants from a pool of USAF Airmen by drafting, coordinating approval, and advertising annual board schedule and application requirements. Process electronically received applications and prescreening applications against established requirements. Assist commanders, supervisors, and applicants with the application process, as needed.

Assist the AFCLC oversight and governance of language program participants. This will include, but not be limited to drafting or updating language course guidance and program expectations for Client review and dissemination. Vector participants to accomplishing and maintaining currency in all training events and requirements. Update and maintain the Language Enabled Airman Development Resource (LEADeR) tracking / monitoring database with current details of Airmen’s foreign language skills and demographics.

Schedule participants in LEADeR for online and immersion courses by implementing Client policies and procedures regarding the prioritization, selection and scheduling of participants for Language Intensive Training Events (LITEs), eMentor online courses, and other courses. Recommend usage of specific program types and locations based on an assessment of participants’ language education and training needs. Place participants in courses consistent with participants’ proficiency levels.

Oversee and guide Airmen’s preparations for immersion travel by liaising with language vendors, embassy personnel, and other training partner POCs on behalf of the Client regarding country clearance and force protection requirements, travel arrangements, and details of the immersion. Advise participants on Foreign Clearance Guide and Defense Travel System matters. Oversee and tracking participant completion of country clearance and status protections paperwork and updating embassy-approved tracking systems such as the Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS) to document theater and country clearance approval.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Must be certified in Microsoft Office 2010 Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, or perform to that level of proficiency.

Requires a SECRET Security clearance or ability to obtain.

Demonstrated initiative in being proactive, set priorities, and meet suspense dates. Ability to interact on a professional level with managers, clients, and all personnel.

Ability to work well independently; demonstrated creativity, self-discipline, and organization.

Desired:

Prior experience working in the military adult education environment; familiarity with language training programs.
